Gahalantine came to Kingfountain and accused Trynne of tricking him. His Imperial City had been destroyed and someone impersonated Rucrius who Trynne claimed to have killed. He agreed to come to Trynnes duchy of Brynthonica. On the way he was waylaid and his memories stolen in the Grove. Trynne was summoned to Kingfountain where she was accused of treason by King Drew. Morwenna had impersonated Queen Ginny and poisoned their son. Trynne escaped back to Brythonica with the baby who she had hidden. Fallon arrived in Brynthonica and told Trynne that she had pretended to work with Morwenna but had betrayed her after finding out her plan.
Trynne and Fallon cross the Grove's portal into the land of Muirwood in search of her father Owen. His memories had been stolen as well. Fallon fills in some details about Morwenna. She had originally plotted to bring her father Severn back to the throne. After her plan failed she blamed Trynne for his death and worked on revenge. She became a Hytera and tried to bond Fallon to her. In Muirwood Pry-Ree and Comoros are at war with each other and the plague is wiping everyone out. They travel in search of Own and find him with the king of Pry-Ree. Owen does not remember Trynne but believes her and they all flee back to the portal at the Abbey of Muirwood. Fallon stays behind because only the same number of people (2) can transport back.
Once back they quickly go to Kingfountain and unmask Morwenna as a imposter. King Drew forgives Trynne and they chase Morwenna out and she teleports back to Brynthonica. Trynne followed her and met with Myrddin. They both together defeated Morwenna and she was tried and executed for treason. Trynne's mother Sinia returned with her little brother from the Deep Fathoms and they restored Owen's/Gahalantine's memories to them. Apparently the magic tree in the Grove was a Dryad which could steal and restore memories to people.
While Trynne was in Muirwood, Gahalantine was given a posioned kiss by Morwenna pretending to be Trynne. Gahalantine used his remaining time convincing his people to escape his kingdom before it was flooded and destroyed (why his death triggered that I have no idea). Trynne went to work with him for the last couple of months of his life. When she returned she found out her friend had willingly traded places with Fallon. With Gahalantine dead they were free to get married.
